Australian passport holders and travellers from Australia currently need a valid visa to enter Japan.
To apply for visas with an Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) certificate from your receiving organisation, please read on.
Visa applications ONLY from the residents in NSW, NT and New Caledonia can be accepted.
1. Long-term Visa (with Certificate of Eligibility (COE))
- Visa application form (*the signature must be in your own handwriting and the same as the signature on your passport.)
- One passport size photo (*taken within the last 6month. 3.5x4.5cm)
- Valid passport and one copy of passport (photo page)
- Certificate of Eligibility(COE) and one copy of COE

- Your valid long-term visa for Australia if you are not an Australian citizen
- Your certificate from the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) certificate applied for by your receiving organisation ▶ ERFS system (Japanese only)

2. Short-term Visa for Business, Conference (without COE)
To enter Japan for up to 90 days on business related purposes.
A. Passport holders of 68 countries/ regions (i.e. AUS, NZL, UK, US) (*1)
- Visa application form (with passport size photo attached.*The signature must be in your own handwriting and the same as the signature on your passport.)
- Valid passport and one copy of passport (photo page)
- Your certificate from the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) certificate applied for by your receiving organisation ▶ERFS system (Japanese only)
- Your valid long-term visa for Australia if you are not an Australian citizen
- ERFS certificate with "Yes" selected for "Intention of applying for Multiple Entry Visa"
- Request for a Multiple-Entry Visa form
For a Multiple-Entry Short Stay visa: To apply for a multiple-entry short stay visa (valid for one year):

B. Passport holders of other countries/ regions
- Visa application form (with passport size photo attached.*The signature must be in your own handwriting and the same as the signature on your passport.)
- Valid passport and one copy of passport (photo page)
- Flight booking confirmation (If you haven’t booked it yet, you can submit a screenshot of your ideal flights)
- A letter from the applicant's company in Australia
(Please include the applicant’s full name, position, passport number, purpose and duration of the business trip. In addition to this, mentioned about the company's financial responsibility for the expenses incurred during the trip.) - Your valid long-term visa for Australia if you are not an Australian citizen
- Letter of Invitation
- List of Visa Applicants (when there are multiple applicants)
- Itinerary during stay in Japan
- Your certificate from the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS) certificate applied for by your receiving organisation ▶ERFS system (Japanese only)
- Letter of guarantee
- A certified copy of the incorporation register or An overview of Company/ or Organization
