The logo and tagline for “Japanaroo 2021” (to be held 20-29 August) have been announced as below.

■Explanation of the logo and tagline

The logo is a collaboration by two famous artists active in Australia, one Japanese and one Australian, to convey the vision of “Japanaroo” which is a new initiative to promote multiculturalism and exchange with Japan in Australia.

The logo reflects the style of both artists’ illustration and uses distinctive and well-known icons from both countries - the kangaroo and Mt Fuji - so that people living in Australia can see at a glance the charm of Japanaroo 2021 which will be a fusion Japanese and Australian culture.

While expressing the fun of this event through the bright colours of pink and light blue, the use of these colours in both elements of the logo establishes the two artists’ illustrations with their different characteristics as one logo.

The tagline “Japan at your doorstep” is intended to encourage as many people as possible to feel that Japan is close by and there for them to enjoy. A “doorstep” is something that every home has and the word is therefore immediately relatable. In this way, the tagline conveys the idea that while going about your daily life in Australia, by just taking a step out your door, you can experience something of Japan.

■Regarding the use of the logo and tagline

The logo and tagline will be used as the official logo and tagline for the entire event administered by the “Japanaroo Platform” public-private partnership that plans and coordinates “Japanaroo 2021”. The logo and tagline may be used by organisations holding special events as part of “Japanaroo 2021”.

Further, in the case that the content, quality or size of the particular event means the event organizer does not wish to use an illustrated logo, it will be possible to use a colour logo without an illustration or a black-and-white logo.
