Applicants who live in distant locations may apply for visas by post.
*DO NOT SEND if you live in Greater Sydney.

5. Assessment
The minimum assessment time is 5 business days.
It generally takes longer if additional documents are required. We will call you if we need more information for further assessment.
In some cases, applications need to be referred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, and it can take up to 2 months or more to complete the process.
There is NO priority processing service.
6. Submitting More Information
We may request more documents when you lodge an application or when we review your application.
In that case, please send the document/s to us by email.

7. Pick up your Visa/passport and Pay visa fee
When the assessment is completed, either the applicant or a representative with an authorisation letter must come in person to collect the passport from our Consulate office in Sydney.
Visa collection hours: 14:00 - 16:30 (NO Booking required)
