Notice of the system maintenance:
The JAPAN eVISA/JAVES system will undergo scheduled maintenance on April 16, 2026. New applications will be unavailable from 8:30 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Japan Standard Time（JST）.

10 business days.
We recommend applying about 2 months prior to your planned travel date.
* NOTE: If your application is incomplete or doesn't meet the requirements, it will be cancelled or returned without being processed.

　Eligibility
You are a resident in NSW or NT.
You are an ordinary passport holder.
You are planning to stay in Japan for less than 90 days for the purpose of tourism.
You are applying for a single-entry visa.
You are travelling to Japan via international flights or international scheduled passenger ferries.

*If your plan includes visiting acquaintances/relatives or business/academic activities, an eVISA cannot be used. Please book an appointment to apply in person at our office.

STEP 1
Document Preparation

Please check the required documents and use the self-checklist to ensure the requirements by yourself and provide all the support documents.

STEP 2
Application information entry

Enter the information required for the online VISA application and upload the necessary documents.

If your application is incomplete, we will cancel it without processing it. Once the application has been cancelled, you may make a new application and submit it again.

Entering incorrect information and/or inadequately uploading the required documents could lead to a delay in assessment, or even cancellation of your eVISA application, which may affect your travel plans.

We may request additional documents after reviewing your application.

STEP 3
Notification of result

The result of your visa application as well as any payment instructions will be sent to your registered e-mail address.

STEP 4
Visa fee payment

If applicable, please register your credit/debit card details on the designated website. Once your payment card has been registered, it will take 1 business day to process the full payment.

eVISA issuance procedure

For applications which incur a fee: the eVISA will be issued once payment has been received.

For applications which do not incur a fee: the eVISA will be issued after STEP 3.
