School Visit Program

Representatives from the Consulate-General of Japan in Sydney are available to visit schools at various times during the year. Visits may be in-person or online, and are open to schools in New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The program involves no cost to schools.

Types of Visits

Note: Content may be adjustable upon request.

General Presentation on Japan
  • Comparisons with Australia (geography, seasons, school)
  • Introduction of Japanese food using restaurant models
  • Kimono demonstration
  • Traditional Japanese wooden games (interactive)
Calligraphy Workshop
  • Brief presentation about the Japanese writing system
  • Calligraphy demonstration
  • Calligraphy practice session
  • Creating a final calligraphy piece on Japanese hanshi paper
  • Note: capacity for 30 students; 45-minute session
Japanese Beyond School Talk
  • Studying in Japan
  • The JET Programme
  • A day in the life of a consul
  • Careers with Japan/Japanese

Apply for a School Visit from the Consulate

To apply, please complete the School Visit Application Form .

Forms must be submitted to cginfo@sy.mofa.go.jp with the subject line: "School Visit - [School Name]".
